What is the Rosenberg Survey??
The Rosenberg Survey is a comprehensive benchmarking study for CPA firms across the U.S., providing insights into firm performance, profitability, partner compensation, staffing, billing practices and more.
Who conducts the survey and who typically participates?
The survey is conducted by The Growth Partnership and INSIDE Public Accounting. It primarily attracts small to mid-sized firms (under $20M in revenue) but is open to firms of all sizes.
Why should my firm participate?
Participation offers valuable benchmarking insights, allowing you to compare your firm’s performance against similar firms nationwide. It supports strategic planning, pricing decisions and internal improvements.
What data does the survey collect?
The Rosenberg Survey collects data on a wide range of firm metrics including:

· Net revenue per partner
· Billing rates and realization
· Staff ratios and utilization
· Profitability metrics
· Growth
How is my data used and is it confidential?
Participants use the results to benchmark their firm against peers, identify strengths and weaknesses and make data-driven decisions about compensation, staffing, pricing and firm strategy. All submissions are kept strictly confidential. Individual firm names are never disclosed in the published report, and data is anonymized before being shared.
How much does it cost to participate?
There is a $525 participation fee, which includes a copy of the full PDF report that is released in September.
What is the deadline to submit data?
The submission deadline typically falls on June 30 each year. Firms are encouraged to begin early to allow time for data collection and review.
How do I participate?

What is a Rosenberg Custom Analysis?
This is an optional, add-on report available to survey participants. It offers a personalized comparison of your firm’s metrics against a curated peer group to support strategic planning and internal review.

Director of the Rosenberg Survey
Kennedy joined The Growth Partnership in 2021 as part of the administrative team for both the training and development and outsourced marketing departments. In 2022, she began working with The Rosenberg Survey.
As Director of the Rosenberg Survey, Kennedy leads the administration and strategic development of one of the accounting profession’s most respected benchmarking surveys. She works closely with survey participants to drive engagement and ensure effective communication throughout the process. She also oversees data analysis, platform management, and operational improvements to streamline survey administration and deliver valuable insights to firms across the profession.
Kennedy plays a key role in enhancing the survey experience by managing the Dynamic Benchmarking platform and ensuring data integrity for meaningful apples-to-apples comparisons.

Charles Hylan, CPA, MBA
Facilitator & Consultant
Charles is a Facilitator & Consultant at The Growth Partnership (TGP), where he plays a key role in the creation benchmarking surveys and practice management publications. He also facilitates strategic planning retreats for accounting firms nationwide and presents at various association conferences throughout the year. With over 30 years of experience, Charles helps firms drive meaningful change and effectively interpret data from the Rosenberg survey.
Charles began his career as an auditor before transitioning into strategic planning and marketing. He entered the consulting space in 1999 as a vice president at Waugh & Company.
